I'll miss In the Sticks. Sorry the career wasn't more lucrative.
Thanks for reading. Comic strips are a fun and frustrating business.
This is one of my favorite strips! I didn't know you were ending but I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision. I can tell you put a lot of yourself into this strip and that's what made it as good as it is. Thanks for sharing your imagination with us!
Antionette, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I don't know what might become of Dewey and the gang, but if you ever see a vest-wearing bear in the wild, do not approach him: he'll probably talk your ear off about his John Denver album collection.
And Ken, if you're still reading, I am a big King of the Hill fan.Well, I've officially made more comments in the comments section than all other visitors combined. I think I broke an unwritten rule of blogging.
You may not have that many comments here, but a bunch of people are mourning the end of In the Sticks over at GoComics.com.I think you came along at a bad time for comic strips. I hope it's some consolation that some of are going to miss the strip. And, I agree. King of the Hill is the best documentary on Texas ever made.
In the Sticks came along at what was probably the beginning of what continues to be a very difficult time for new strips.
I only just realized that the strip had officially ended. I'm rather late in the game I'm afraid. Thought maybe you were just taking a break before Google enlightened me. Just wanted to let you know that it was definitely one of the best new comic strips I've seen, and I'm really going to miss it.
Hi Nathan,I will surely miss In the Sticks. It is (was, sadly) one of my favourite strips and I read it daily on Yahoo comics. I quite like your drawing(especially Flip the beaver) and jokes. I didn't realize that you ended it until I Googled and found this page. I wish you all the best in your life.
I, also, was slow to realize the strip was ended.I will miss it.Maybe it can be resurected at some point?mz
GoComics re-running In the Sticks is making me miss the strip.
I'm late to the game, just getting into the swing of the strip. It was the first daily strip I saw that was actually using some of the power of the electronic medium - the "live" action panels were genius. I will miss fresh material from your creativity and I wish you well
Hey Nathan, I don't know if you'll see comments posted here, but I saw In the Sticks at GoComics for the first time a few weeks ago, and I'm only sorry I discovered it after you wrapped it up. In my opinion it's a rare gem in the wasteland of daily comics. Seeing your roughs and editor's notes is fascinating!I'd love to know what you're up to after ending the strip, but mainly just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed In the Sticks. Take care man.D
